Monica Bodway, the owner of Moods Art Studio, has had a 30-year career as an artist that started with a degree in graphic design, landing her first “big girl” job at Lands End, then expanding to California as an art director, transitioning into a fine art teacher, eventually moving back home to open Otto’s art academy in Waukesha.

It was a big change for Monica when she sold Otto’s in 2013 and became a
stay-at-home mom of two. She turned to Process Art as a way to ease that transition. Monica discovered that this style of art gave her a unique creative outlet. Process Art is about being in the moment and just enjoying art without an end goal. This not only helped her express her feelings but gave her insight to her reoccurring emotions. Mindful based art gave her a deeper understanding of herself and allowed her to feel more happy, relaxed and balanced.

Monica is passionate about helping other women use Process Art as a healthy coping mechanism for life’s transitions. Over the years she’s done private coaching sessions in her basement and via zoom but felt it was too restrictive. She wanted to have a space where she could connect with more women face to face and be able to “get emotionally messy” in a no rules environment.

In 2024 she created Moods Therapeutic Art Studio in Waukesha for women who want more from life and are tired of struggling alone and in silence.

Moods holds workshops, private sessions and discussion groups helping women understand their feelings, uncover their desires and live more authentically.

Having a creative healing space and connecting women in her community has been a long time dream come true.
